  • Our commitment to improving guest safety drove us to rethink the decades-old design of our prescription packaging. This resulted in the innovative, guest-friendly design we call ClearRx — a distinctive red bottle that features an easy-to-read label that highlights the most important information in large print (patient name, drug name and instructions) and comes with color-coded lid rings, customizable for each family member. Recently, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) named ClearRx the winner of its Design of the Decade Award.

A Healthy Destination

Target helps guests make easy, incremental choices that add up to a healthy lifestyle. That’s why we’ve added an expanded fresh-food layout in more than half of our general merchandise stores. By the end of 2012, approximately 1,100 of our more than 1,750 Target stores will offer a curated assortment of fresh produce, fresh meat and baked goods in an inviting, open-market layout, making healthy choices convenient.

In addition to reformulating our entire Archer Farms collection in 2008 to meet the Food and Drug Administration standard for labeling items as zero grams of added trans fat, we developed the Archer Farms Simply Balanced line of better-for-you meals, snacks and beverages. Launched in 2009, the line now includes more than 100 products that meet carefully crafted standards for nutrition and ingredients. Guests can easily make better choices using the nutritional criteria that are clearly labeled on the front of the packaging. We’ve also made it easier for guests to identify better-for-you food selections with special signing in key aisles.

Target Pharmacy

Target pharmacies, located in more than 92 percent of our stores, provide a convenient venue for guests to fill their prescriptions and get answers to their health and wellness questions. Our pharmacists are partners in health on both sides of the counter, available to answer questions about the thousands of generic prescription drugs we offer, to offer advice about over-the-counter options, and to provide support for health issues like diabetes, asthma or smoking cessation.

Target Pharmacy offers affordable ways to stay healthy. More than 300 generic medications are available for $4 for a 30-day supply or $10 for a 90-day supply. We also offer $25 flu vaccinations every flu season.

Target Clinic

Target Clinics in Florida, Illinois, Maryland and Minnesota provide high-quality care at a low cost. In fact, studies show that the care provided by retail clinics is consistently comparable, and in some cases superior, to that provided by conventional medical clinics. Our clinics provide basic health care within a Target store seven days a week, with most services delivered in 15 minutes or less. No appointment is necessary, and guests may walk in to meet with a certified nurse practitioner or physician assistant who can evaluate, diagnose health conditions and prescribe appropriate medications for common illnesses.

Target Clinics in Florida, Illinois, Maryland and Minnesota are designed to be a convenient complement to guests’ primary-care relationships.
